Beauty pageant winners are usually kept a keen eye on -- whether before, during, or after their reign. But that doesn't always stop them from misbehaving. Miss Russia 1998, Anna Malova, 38, was arraigned in Manhattan yesterday on charges she stole her doctor’s prescription pad to prescribe painkillers for herself. She had been arrested Tuesday for illegal possession of drugs and narcotics. Prosecutors said Malova's doctor had alerted authorities to the theft on Feb. 24, and cops then alerted pharmacies in the area to be on the lookout for the stolen prescription sheets. The beauty queen was collared as she was leaving a pharmacy in Greenwich Village. Ironically, although she is not licensed to practice in the United States, the former Miss Universe contender is a doctor in her native country. | ||||||||
